Insider: Piaggia
Extension: 37 acres
The Carmignano DOCG is located between Florence, Prato and Pistoia in the hilly Montalbano region of Tuscany. The area experiences a strong Apennine influence with heavy summer temperature swings, promoting balanced vine growth. The limestone-rich soils and favorable drainage are ideal for viticulture.
Dating back to the 13th century, Carmignano wines earned legal protection from Grand Duke Cosimo III in 1716. Cabernet, introduced by Catherine de’ Medici, has been part of the blend for centuries.

Production: 80,000 bottles
The Piaggia farm, near Poggio a Caiano and Carmignano, spans vineyards across both communes. Its location west of Florence offers optimal conditions for Carmignano DOCG wines.
