Insider: Le Piane
Extension: 22 acres
Le Piane includes parcels across Boca village such as Mottosergo, Valvecchi, Le Piane, Montalbano, and Traversagna. These plots vary in altitude (420–520m), system (Guyot and terraces), and composition (Nebbiolo, Vespolina, Uva Rara, Croatina, Barbera, Syrah).
Old vines are preserved, especially in Montalbano, planted as early as 1915, and new vineyards are replanted with clonal selections to preserve biodiversity. Many parcels are steep, terraced, and biodiverse, featuring rare grapes like Malvasia di Boca and Erbaluce.

Production: 50,000 bottles
In the 1990s, enologist Alexander Trolf and Christoph Künzli rediscovered Boca. With help from Antonio Cerri, they preserved historic parcels, starting with just 0.5 hectares. The estate has since grown to 20 acres of vineyards, many planted with old clones and in traditional Maggiorina style.
The “Meridiana” vineyard, replanted by Trolf before his passing, and its iconic yellow house, now symbolize the winery’s rebirth. The wines are made, aged, and bottled entirely on the estate by a passionate small team.
