Insider: Il Chiosso
Extension: 29 acres
Our vineyards span the Northern Piedmont where the Sesia river splits the provinces of Vercelli and Novara — dividing the famed hills of Gattinara D.O.C.G. and Ghemme D.O.C.G.
The soil is lean and acidic, shaped by glacial deposits from Monte Rosa. The Gattinara hills rise from 918 to 1,476 ft, composed of porphyry, granite, quartz, and rich iron content — giving both red soil and a deep, austere character to the wines.
Ghemme's terrain forms a triangular moraine from 918 to 1,017 ft high, with cobblestone, granite, gravel, and porphyry — enhancing Nebbiolo’s finesse. This terroir is also expressed in Fara D.O.C.
We cultivate with total respect for nature, using traditional methods and allowing the land to speak through our wines.

Production: 80,000 bottles
Our winemaking respects tradition and local identity. The glacial soils and steep slopes require careful handwork, and our commitment to low-impact cultivation supports biodiversity and sustainability.

Proprietors: Marco Arlunno & Carlo Cambieri
Winemaker: Marco Arlunno
Il Chiosso was born in 2007 from the synergy between Marco Arlunno, winemaker and Ghemme producer, and Carlo Cambieri, vineyard owner in Gattinara.
Marco’s enological expertise and Carlo’s engineering background merged into a unique partnership. Together, they produce wines that authentically represent the Northern Piedmont — from Gattinara and Ghemme to the Colline Novaresi and Fara.
