A life dedicated to the vineyard among the ancient black soils of Monteforte d’Alpone.

A man who has taken the fruit of his father’s labour to bestow upon the customer one of the most interesting Garganeghes out there. Uncompromising in the search for quality and in the interpretation of the prestigious soils he has at his disposal. A finesse and elegance in wines, always marked with a pleasant mineral taste. Born as an expert in white wines, he has now arrived at the wonderful Morandina adventure. An organic vineyard at high altitude in the soaring valley of Mezzane, for authentic and intense wines.

Soave white grapes. The golden bunches have cloaked the black hills of Soave and Monteforte. It is an authentic display of winemaking history and tradition in the region of Verona. It was present throughout Graziano’s childhood and has been the leitmotif of his entire life.

Gargenega with its sometimes abundant, sometimes sparse bunches is a marriage of soil and history.

Originally trained with the “Tendone” system, it has now achieved its true potential for the Graziano company through the first-time testing of the “Pergola” system and, as such, has made its way into the Recioto di Soave DOCG.

Being defined as a neutral grape, it gets all of its strength and elegance from the ancient surroundings, the basalt soils of the Soave and Monteforte hills, with complex hints of exotic fruits and white flowers, of yellow drupe and warm, sweet spices. These grapes retain a high degree of acidity and provide a long life for bottled wines. They have leathery skin and are ideal for drying. They develop nutty aromas and gather the identity of where the Cru’s originated.

At Garganega, Graziano has planted a hectare of Trebbiano di Soave. A deliberate choice to keep his wine-growing tradition alive in this area.

An effort not to distort the ancient history of Soave.

Production: 220.000 bottles

The philosophy of the winery is to believe that the production of wine is like the production of food: a gastronomic act. To be a source of food pleasure, the food must be good, but also pure and correct: it must be the result of sustainable agriculture that respects the environment and workers’ dignity. When we buy food, we choose also an agricultural model. This is a fundamental issue that determines the future of the planet: its survival or its destruction.

Proprietor: Graziano Prà

Winemaker: Graziano Prà

Graziano Prà has been part of the company since the early 80s but it was his father and grandfather who sealed his fate as winemaker.

Regions such as Monte Grande and Monte Bisson in Soave and Morandina in Valpolicella have risen to international fame thanks to him; small esteemed Crus located in strong viticulture areas.

The principles that have shaped his story are quintessence and respect for the land. Purity is a key word to describe Graziano wines. He is still in charge of winemaking decisions and, in the wine cellar, he prefers the exaltation of the fruit. Research and innovation are inspired by the enhancement of the high quality of grapes coming from the field. From the beginning, his production choice to only use local vine varieties reflects Graziano’s strong belief in the potential quality of local grapes and for the enhancement of the territory.
